Better In Belize has eco-friendliness as its central theme. The project is a 100-acre site in the Cayo District of Belize on the Macal River at the resevoir created by the new Vaca Dam.
Half of the open area is earmarked as green common space and owner energy requirements for the community will be generated by a hydro-power system to be installed in the Macal river. Eco-home plans (including for yurt/geodomes) are available. Water catchment systems are encouraged.
An eco-school is planned to teach highschool level curriculum intermixed with ecology, technology, and self empowerment courses.
Belmopan is located around 15 minutes away. The drive from the international airport at Belize City to the project takes around 120 minutes. The road is paved as far as Benque Viejo Del Carmen. The remaining 25 minutes along Arenal road is not paved.
