Belize

Belize enjoys a tropical climate, often with a brisk prevailing wind from the Caribbean Sea.  The rainly season is between June and August and temperatures average around 80˚F (26.6˚C).  The northern part of the country receives less rainfall than the south.  Belize lies in the hurricane belt but historically has not been struck by as many hurricanes as the South-Eastern US or the Texan gulf coast.  Hurricane insurance is widely available in Belize via local insurance companies, re-insured in the US and Europe.

Nicaragua

In Nicaragua, the temperature does not vary greatly with the seasons and is largely a function of elevation. From sea level to 750m. (2,460ft.) daytime temperatures average around 84˚F (29˚C) for most of the year. The highest peaks of the central highlands, above 1,600m. (5,250ft.), have daytime averages of 72°F (22˚C), with night time lows sometimes below 59˚F (15°C).

Nicaragua has a distinct wet and dry season. The wettest months are May through to October when the lanscape becomes very lush and the driest (and windiest) are December to April.   Different parts of the country experience widely different rainfall levels with the Caribbean lowlands being the wettest part of the country.  During the wet season, eastern Nicaragua can be subject to heavy flooding and tropical storms particularly from July through October. The western side of the country is drier and less subject to flooding and heavy weather.

Panama

Panama's Pacific side dry season runs from mid-December to mid April.  On the Caribbean coast, dry and wet seasons are less marked and it can rain at any time of the year.  Panama's mountain areas (for example Boquete, El Valle) can get cold with temperatures falling to below 50˚F (10˚C).  Temperatures in other parts of the country average around 84˚F (29˚C)   As with Nicaragua and Costa Rica, temperature is more a factor of  elevation than season.

Costa Rica

In the Pacific region of Costa Rica, the weather is warm all year and ranges between 82-100˚F (27.7-38˚C). The Caribbean temperatures vary between 84-94˚F (30-34˚C).  In elevated areas the temperatures can drop to as low as 44˚F (7˚C) any time of year.  Given the variation, investors looking at Costa Rica real estate are able to zero in on a climate zone that most suits their needs.  Costa Rica has two distinct seasons, the "green season" which lasts from May to November and the dry season which begins in December and continues through April. During the green season you can expect a daily rain shower.
